Hey there!

I'm Maddie Sackett, a Brooklyn based cartoonist originally from southwestern Virginia with a BFA in Comics from the School of Visual Arts. My background in traditional oil painting techniques (my first true love) informs my comics work, and while I often work digitally, I love experimenting with different mediums. I enjoy working with watercolor, paper-crafted puppets, crayons, glitter glue, patchwork, linocut, and anything I can find at the thrift store.

My personal work often revolves around themes of femininity, mental health, and grief often through drawings of animals and nature. I enjoy the contrast of bright cute characters against heavy themes.

Exploring printing techniques for comics brought me to the world of indie comix and zine fests. I'm proud to say I've tabled at SPX, MICE, BICS, Lancaster ZF, Philly ZF, Frogfarm, and more! You can check out some of the zines I sling in my shop.

Through zine fests I met my close friend and fellow cartoonist Shannon Spence. In 2025, we started Cart Press, a small press with a focus on printing uniquely built zines. I write a Substack about Cart Press that includes DIY book binding tutorials and lifts up the amazing artists we have worked with. Check it out here. :)

My world revolves around making art with my friends, my two cats: Juniper and Bird, and waiting for summer to come back.

Follow me on Instagram or Bluesky for regular updates on my work!
